Scale helicopters have become increasingly popular over the last few years. The level of detail in helicopters that have been built from scratch is remarkable but there are very good models available to buy “off the shelf” for pilots who either don’t have the time or are just beginning to explore the exciting World of Radio Controlled Scale helicopters.
Scale events are run with a relaxed atmosphere in mind. At most of the meets, rather than being judged, scores are often decided by pilots choice. Each pilot writing on a form, voting for what in his opinion he thinks is the best scale model. No real flying element, just that it fly's. Only one flyin meeting includes a formal competition with set manoeuvres, entering is optional and forms only a small part of the day. It has a panel of judges and is marked on flying score and static score. It’s not that popular with the scale crowd, preferring the more relaxed pilots choice.
